China National Renewable Energy Centre (CNREC) declared its formal launch on February 23rd, 2012 in Beijing, China. Mr. Liu Qi, the Deputy Administrator of NEA, gave an encouraging opening speech in this Ceremony.

China National Renewable Energy Centre (CNREC) declared its formal launch on February 23rd, 2012 in Beijing, China. There are more than one hundred representatives and guests, typically Chinese government sectors such as National Development and Reform Commission (NDRC), National Energy Administration (NEA), Ministry of Finance, (MOF), Ministry of Science and Technology (MOST) as well as Danish Ministry of Trade and Investment, Danish Ministry of Climate, Energy and Building, Royal Danish Embassy in Beijing (RDE), National Renewable Energy Laboratory (NREL), Danish Energy Agency (DEA), and Spanish National Renewable Energy Centre (CENER), as well as key power, energy enterprises and institutions, and international institutions. Mr. Liu Qi, the Deputy Administrator of NEA, gave an encouraging opening speech in this Ceremony.

Mr. Liu Qi pointed that a new mind-set is necessary for the establishment of policy system and management measures tailored to renewable energy development so that we could solve the problems practically besides technology innovation and emerging technology improvement. .” the advanced experience of EU and US has already proved the essentiality of a national institution to improve renewable energy development and industrial management for a well-functioning renewable energy industrial system. Therefore, CNREC is important to achieve renewable energy development objectives and set up the renewable energy scale up development and utilization mechanism. ”
Mr. Liu Qi also stressed the requirement that CNREC should concentrate on addressing the key challenges and issues faced by renewable energy development of China. CNREC shall enhance strategy and policy research, play a leading role for renewable energy development as well as the innovative thought and methods for renewable energy deployment in China. It is also an important mission for CNREC to pay high attention to talent training including talent introduction, employment, education and training to create a capable national team with international views, know-how and technology, who will completely play the supportive role by participating and deepening international cooperation positively for experience learning and exchange.
In order to meet the demand of renewable energy scale-up developing, CNREC was agreed by NEA to assist China’s energy authorities in renewable energy policy research and implementation, and provide technical support in industrial coordination and management. The major missions of CNREC are the renewable energy sector strategy, planning and policy development, national key/demonstration programme organizing and implementing, industrial standard and industry chain coordination and formulation, sector data and information collection, analysis and dissemination, and international cooperative project management.
Based on the international advanced experience, CNREC will work closely with national and international expertise, institutions and enterprises by making full use of their advantages, establish a coordinative working mechanism which is in line with industrial development and management requirement, integrate the resources of policy and market, concentrate on addressing the barriers to renewable energy scale-up development of China and the world and finally enhance the development and utilization of renewable energy.
Mr. Liu Qi also had a very good meeting with Ms. Pia Olsen Dyhr, Minister of Danish Ministry of Trade and Investment and the delegation, exchanging their views of further deepening the Sino-Danish cooperation in renewable energy.
